While local governments are scrambling to introduce the Geographic Information System (GIS)
for urban administrative science and civic participation administration, Yeongju-si,
Gyeongsangbuk-do, will invest about 5.8 billion won to build GIS for roads and underground facilities.

　To this end, Yeongju City plans to invest a total of 600 million won and build location and
attribute information into a database (DB) through investigation and exploration of
urban infrastructure such as road facilities (25km), water supply facilities (19km),
and sewage facilities (22km) over the next 10 months.

　In addition, it plans to introduce a general-purpose program for managing roads and
underground facilities and build a GIS that covers a total length of 459.75km over
a total of 36 months, including road facilities (225.62km), water supply facilities (196.42km),
and sewage facilities (317.71km).
 
 
　Yeongju City plans to receive a business performance evaluation report from
System Integration (SI) and GIS professionals by the 13th of next month and select operators
through a second-stage bidding that offers prices to operators who have earned more than a certain score.

　Although this project is not a large project with a size of around 5 billion won,
it is expected to be enough to attract attention from related industries in that it is actually
the first GIS project ordered by local governments this year and will continue for the
next three years.

　In particular, as Yeongju-si limited the number of joint suppliers to three, it is expected
that the merger between SI companies such as Samsung SDS, SK C&C, and Hanjin Information
and Communication, as well as survey and aerial photography companies such as Jungang Airlines
and Pan-A Engineering, and GIS Software will begin in earnest.
